Community Builder FAQ
Groups of up to 6 individuals, friends, families or community organizations can register as a Community Builder and still participate in the Sandcastle season. Community Builders are not required to submit a registration fee or meet a fundraising minimum, and are encouraged to set a target fundraising goal of at least $500.
Community Builders are invited to participate in mini building challenges that will take place in October, as well as the virtual activities and performances that will take place during the Sandcastle Classic on October 24th. Register here to become a Community Builder!
Q. Do Community Builders need to be based locally in the Bay Area?
A. No, we welcome participants from around the world and due to the virtual nature of this year’s Sandcastle Classic season, there are no restrictions around geography.
Q. I’ve never fundraised before, how do I get started?
A. We have a wealth of resources posted on the Sandcastle Classic Website including tools and templates to get started. Leap can also provide on-on-one coaching to help you develop a fundraising strategy and perfect your ask.
Q. What can I expect around the Mini-Building Challenges, and what kinds of materials will I need?
A. Mini-Building Challenges will take place on October 1st, 8th, and 15th and are open to Sandcastle Teams and Community Builders. RSVP to attend the challenges, which will be hosted on Zoom. Attendees will use household materials like cardboard, tape, and scrap paper to create projects rooted in architecture, design thinking and construction skills. Final creations from each challenge will be displayed virtually at the Sandcastle Classic main event on October 24th.
Q. What’s in store for the final event, the Leap Sandcastle Classic on October 24th?
A. Community Builders are invited to attend the virtual Sandcastle Classic, for games, live performances, architecture activities, and a student showcase. Check out the event schedule here.
